Have you ever had the pleasure of enjoying exquisite filter coffee prepared with a Hario V60? This production method, conceived by the prestigious Japanese company Hario, recognized for its high-quality glass products, has been meticulously developed based on solid scientific foundations. The key lies in a cone with a perfect 60º angle, made of materials such as glass or porcelain, which guarantee optimal extraction of flavors.
How to prepare a perfect cup of coffee:
1. Fold the filter into a cone shape and rinse it after placing it in the Hario V60 using hot water just below the boiling point (about 93°C or 200ºF). This will eliminate the papery taste and heat the cup or jug in which you are going to prepare the coffee. Then, throw away this water.
2. Grind about 21g. (about 3 tablespoons) of coffee until it has a texture slightly coarser than table salt. Add the coffee to the coffee maker.
3. Saturate the ground coffee using hot water just below boiling temperature (about 93°C). Use just the right amount of water to cover the coffee. Let it bloom for 15 seconds .
Coffee loses gases or “blooms” when it is freshly ground. This should cause the coffee layer to rise and bubble a little.
4. Pour the water at a slow pace and describing a uniform spiral. To achieve a homogeneous extraction, add water every 10-15s . Soak up the dark parts and avoid the light parts. If you are using a scale, you should add water until you reach 360g.
5. When the timer reaches 3 minutes , you should have about 300ml of coffee. Remove the Hario V60 and pour the coffee into a hot mug.
